USGS Potential Field GXs - how to install in Oasis montaj 202x
Hi all, since I continue to be asked about this, I'll repost a summary of the info from the Oasis montaj forum (with a correction).
Jeff Phillips' excellent suite of GXs are written with GX Developer and provide excellent examples. To install and use them in Oasis montaj versions 2022 and later:
1. Download the most recent 2007 release of the source and compiled software here:
2. Unzip the archive and open the gx\OM90\ subdirectory, where you will find the compiled software organized in a series of subdirectories.
3. Copy the files from each subdirectory into the corresponding Oasis montaj folder, as shown in the table below.

Note: in my previous post, I neglected the "Desktop Applications" subdirectory for omn and gx.
4. Load the appropriate menu into Oasis montaj.
* usgsgx.omn for the licensed version
* usgsgxv.omn for the free viewer

I'm using 2026.1 (20260610.24) Geosoft Viewer in Windows 11 with the USGS gx's. I've copied the various files to the different subdirectories as indicated above. Unfortunately, for most of the gx's I get an error that the "IUSGS_#gxname# GX method is not available inthis application". Has anybody been able to get the gx's to run in this setuo?
