Grouping Lithologies in Leapfrog - One of My Favourite Time-Saving Features

Hi everyone! 👋 I’m currently working on updating the Leapfrog Works Fundamentals learning pathway, and I wanted to take a moment to share one of my favourite features in Leapfrog - Group Lithologies.

If you’ve ever worked with borehole data from historical drilling programs or recent field campaigns, you’ll know how overwhelming those long, detailed borehole log PDFs can be. When I was working in the field, I spent hours trying to simplify and interpret complex lithology logs for hydrogeological modelling. I really wish I had a tool like Leapfrog back then!

Grouping lithologies in Leapfrog allows you to simplify borehole logs by combining similar units into meaningful categories, making it easier to visualise, interpret, and communicate your data. Whether you're preparing for modelling, reporting, or stakeholder presentations, this feature can save you time and reduce confusion.

📽️ Check out this short video walkthrough to see how it works.

If you haven’t used this feature yet, I highly recommend giving it a try. And if you have, I’d love to hear how it’s helped in your projects - let me know in the comments!
