Edit Category Selections in Point Data

I have a large point data set, where i manually created a category selection. Unfotunately, one colleague of mine reloaded the dataset into Leapfrog due to problems with appended data. I know lost my editable category selection. Fortunately, I did not lose the data itself, I could append the category to the reimported data. But know I am not longer able to edit the category and add more data to it.

Does anybody know how I could solve this problem? Is there a way to import an editable category dataset to existing point data?
