🧠 Rectangular vs. Trapezoidal model domains in Res2DInv – What’s Your Preference?

One question that frequently pops up in our Res2DInv training sessions:
Why are inversion results displayed as “rectangles” by default within Res2DInv?

It’s a simple setting, but it always sparks interesting technical conversations. Traditionally, resistivity results have been displayed using trapezoidal model domains—so the rectangular model approach in Res2DInv tends to be unexpected.

One of my colleagues wrote an article exploring this very topic (attached). If you're familiar with inversion modeling of resistivity data, I'd love to get your take:

🔍 Do you prefer rectangular or trapezoidal model domains—and why?
