Drainage Trench BC

I am trying to model the effect of installing perforated pipe interceptor drains, within a sand and gravel trench.

Would the trench itself have the drainage BC around it?

Thanks

    Hello!

It depends on the flow rates and ability for the pipe to convey water out of the system. You could start by apply a potential seepage face to the pipe. If the sand/gravel has a high K relative to the recharge, then the phreatic surface in the drain should be horizontal and near the bottom of the pipe. If that is the case, then the BC can just be applied to the trench walls/base and the answer would be the same.

Applying the BC to the pipe wall is convenient because only a single geometric object needs to be selected to graph discharge.
