What is the .gpf.cache file for?

The .gpf.cache file has several GB of the size which may cause a problem when moving to another machine. If I ignore to copy this file, what will be happened? How to reduce its size?

The gpf.cache file just helps make project faster. It can be deleted safely. I delete them often. There is more information here: https://my.geosoft.com/supportcentre#/kb/kA20c000000YOdoCAG5
