Newbie question using couple sigma/w and seep/w
Hi, this is hopefully an easy one to answer - I am running a seep/w analysis which has quite a few time steps, each with a varying pore water pressure profile. I was hoping to use sigma/w to assess the effective stress at each time step (using a load/deformation analysis for each pwp profile from seep/w at each time step), but all i seem to be able to do is only select one pwp from the seep/w analysis at a time to analyse.. Is there something I'm missing, or can you not use Sigma/w to assess each pore water pressure profile from each time step in seep/w automatically?
Thanks in advance,
Sam

Hi @SamHarris, have you tried using a consolidation analysis for your scenario? Consolidation analyses model coupled water transfer and stress-strain behavior to simulate the transient pore-water pressure and deformation response due to loading and/or unloading and/or changes in hydraulic conditions. This analysis should allow you to obtain the results you're looking for.
I've attached a PDF writeup about an example of consolidation, but you can find examples of GeoStudio files with consolidation and associated writeups in the Seequent Learning Center under Resources>GeoStudio 2025.2 SIGMA/W Example Files. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
