How to get a defined boundaries of a masked grid?

Hello everyone,

I masked my grid using a polygon to only include my area of interest, AOI (within the polygon). However, the grid boundaries are not well-defined. My polygon is rectangular but the masked grid has irregular or 'zigzag' outer boundaries. Is there a way to get these boundaries clear (shaped as rectangle instead of irregular)? I do think that it is caused by a small AOI over the largely spaced survey line spacing. But maybe there's a way to make it better?

    Hi SyifaSukri,

I am trying to visualize what you are describing. Does the polygon fit entirely within the input grid boundaries? If so, the output should have boundaries that resemble the polygon. Is the Rectangle Polygon edges aligned NSEW?

  • Hi SeanPlener,

Thank you for responding to my question. Only the top vertex of polygon doesn't fit within the input grid boundaries. The rectangle polygon edges is slightly tilted. I can't share the real output but you can refer to the sketch attached - hopefully to make it clearer. The red zigzag pattern is consistent at the surrounding edges.

    Hi SyifaSukri,

Thank you for the details. I think what you are seeing is an artifact of the grids. Our cell edges are orient NS-EW. We cannot display partial cells.

If you are trying to create a cleaner look for displaying on maps, you can try applying a mask to the grid on a map. Map Tools>Masking>Apply View Mask. Please note masking will only display the data in the view, however ALL data is still present in the grid (and can be see if "Mask to view" is unchecked).
