Optimum Survey Planning Challenge for Session Five!

Your post-session challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to find the optimum survey plan to detect a subsurface cavity anomaly. Using the provided dataset, you will design a different survey layout and run a forward model in VOXI to find the configuration that best optimises target detection.

Here's how to take part:

  1. Open the cavity_with_water voxel HERE.
  2. Follow the steps below to generate a survey plan to optimise the detection of the target:
    • Open the Exercise.map by right clicking on Maps in the data explorer and open Exercise.map.
    • Use the provided Exercise.ply file to create the survey
    • In the database, add a channel named “DEM” and set the value to 0, then add a second channel “Alt” and set the value to 0.1.
  3. Create a Voxi session either using the voxel or the .ply file.
  4. Run the forward model using different survey plans.
  5. Share your result: Upload a screenshot of your optimum survey plan and its corresponding response in the comments below!
