Ready to take a trip to the Mt Palmer gold deposit? Your post-session challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to map the geometry and extent of a banded sedimentary iron formation (Sif) which is associated with Au occurrences. Since the Sif has a high magnetic susceptibility compared to the background rock, you will use geological interpretation to guide your inversion and test the hypothesis that there are two separate iron formations.

Here's how to take part:

  1. Download the project and instructions: everything you need can be found HERE
  2. Run your inversion: Follow the guide to build your parameter reference model, apply constraints, and run the constrained inversion in Oasis montaj.
  3. Share your result: Export your voxel, display it in the 3D View with your drilling data, and upload a screenshot of your final model in the comments below!

We have reward packs to send to the first x10 challenge participants.

Give it a go! We look forward to seeing your models and finding out if your results support the two-banded iron formation hypothesis. 🧐
